Online Safety Bill amendments on pornography website age and permission verification debated in Parliament

On 15 July 2022, Parliament debated amendments to the Online Safety Bill tabled by Dame Diana Johnson MP that would have required pornography websites to verify the age and permission of those featured in content uploaded to their sites. The amendments would also have enabled individuals featured in pornographic content to remove their consent to that content remaining on a website. Whilst the amendments were not supported by the Government and so did not pass, they were supported by the Labour Party and the SNP.
